Rev. Thomas P. Kuffel currently serves as parochial administrator of Sacred Heart, Roggen, and Holy Family, Keenesburg (May 26, 2024).
After discerning his calling to the priesthood, Fr. Tom grew up outside of Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Marquette University in 1984 with a degree in philosophy. Following his missionary year, he entered the seminary in 1985 and was ordained a priest in 1989. He furthered his studies at the Angelicum University, earning a licentiate degree in Thomistic Studies in 1992.
After completing his licentiate degree, he received a teaching assignment in the diocese of Lincoln. For the next 24 years,he worked as a pastor and teacher at various high schools and parishes, including director of Camp Kateri. In 2016, Fr.Tom embarked on a missionary experience in the Diocese of Fairbanks, Alaska. He traveled throughout the state,ministering to various villages and cities, including Nome, Kotzebue, Stebbins, St. Michael, Healy (Denali Park), Nenana,and Fairbanks. After six years as a missionary, he joined the Archdiocese of Denver.
In 2022, Fr. Thomas Kuffel co-authored a book with Dr. Nancy James: The Ascent to God: Divine Theosis Revealed and Realized in the Teaching of John Paul II. The book explores the mysticism of St. John Paul II and his desire for a New Pentecost to revitalize the Catholic Church’s evangelization efforts. The introduction was written by Bishop Chad Zeilinski, Bishop of New Ulm and it received the imprimatur from Bishop Larry Silva of Honolulu.
Fr. Tom now seeks to enhance his pastoral skills to help people find and follow God through spiritual direction, retreats,and mysticism. He has entered the spiritual director program at the Institute of Priestly Formation at the Seminary of St.Mary’s, Mundelein.
